James Edward Porter, 83, died Friday, April 9 at his Knights Ferry home.

He was born in Branchland, West Virginia to Martha and Linza Porter.

Mr. Porter was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

He worked in heavy construction for 50 years and was a member of Pile Drivers local #34. He was a past member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Knights Ferry.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Porter of Knights Ferry; children, Maryann and Bill Largent of Knights Ferry, Judith Porter of Petaluma, Jerry and Patty Porter of Menlo Park, Kathy Mathieson, Cindy Thomasson, both of Medford, OR, Jim and Ann Porter of Innwood, WV, David Pierpoint of Portland, OR; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

His memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday April 24 at Assembly of God Church, 150 No. Pasadena Ave., Waterford with Pastor Ron Huson officiating.
