Jackie passed away at 10:10 on March 1, 2016 with loving family by her side.
Jackie’s ancestors traveled by covered wagon from New Madrid, MO to an 800 acre ranch in the hills of Berkeley, CA. in 1859. She was born on Oxford St. just 3 blocks from the original family home. She went to Berkeley High, graduating in 1937. Her passion from childhood was hair dressing. Her senior year she concentrated in cosmetology classes and high school simultaneously and became licensed in 1937. Jackie then worked in Piedmont at Pasadori’s Beauty Salon for 5 years. Jackie married George Riise in January 1942 and moved to “the valley” later that year. Her “war years” were spent raising her young family in an agricultural business until the family moved to Oakdale in 1950. She established Oakdale Beauty Salon, and became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church that same year. By 2010, she was recognized as having a Calif. Beautician’s license longer than anyone else (1937). She has been a 46 year member of Oakdale Soroptimist Intl, a life member since 1995 and served as President in 1975-1976.
Jackie is survived by 6 children. Daughter, Dianne Riise Jennings of Modesto, her son Paul (Carole) Kummerle, their children, Drake, and Jenna Kummerle all of Snohomish Wa., and daughter Tirzah (Jonathan) Stenner, and their children Aidan, Ainsley, and Ellery, all of Mountain House, CA. Son, Donald (Judy) Riise of Oakdale, their children are: Tiffany Leijten (Rod) of Oakdale, Hank Walter, Wesley, Grace, Luke, and Ava Leijten. Kristin Mauer (Dan), their children, Brendan, William, and Colin Mauer, all of Pacifica, CA. Courtnee (Mark) Averskog , their children Sofie and Ellie, all of Bend, OR. Maj. Andy Riise (Katie) and their children Larsen, Jonah, Caleb and Hanna all of Fort Carson, CO. and LeighAnne Riise of San Francisco. Daughter, Heidi (Geo) Roberts of Colorado Springs, CO. their sons, Nathan (Lucy) Roberts, Chris, and George Roberts, all of Hersham, Surrey, England, and Tim (Helen) Roberts, their children, Bethany, Hannah, and David, all of Watford, Herts., England. Son, Eric (Julie) Riise, their children Annika, and Mark Riise all of Everett, WA. Daughter, Andrea (Robert) Hemsley, their children are Jeremy and ChristyAnn, all of Turlock, CA. Son, Aaron Riise of Mammoth, CA.; and many nephews, especially Mark Hyduke, and many nieces, especially recent care giver, Carole Hites of Prescott, AZ.
