Hiram Ward Van Norman, age 62 of Oakdale, California passed away on Sunday, October 27 in Riverbank, California. Hiram was born June 9, 1957 to his parents Hiram O. Van Norman and Annette Service Van Norman. Hiram grew up in Oakdale and was a graduate of Oakdale High School class of 1975. He was active in football, baseball, wrestling, band and choir.
After high school, he started a career working in Modesto for Weyerhaeuser making boxes. Hiram always had farming in his blood and in 1987 he came back to Oakdale to work the family ranch as his dad had done. Following in his parents footsteps, Hiram joined the Knights Ferry Odd Fellows Lodge 170. For many years you could find Hiram on the first Sunday of every month making and flipping some of the best pancakes you have ever had at the monthly Odd Fellows breakfast. It was a position he loved!
Hiram was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Monica Harper (Mike) and many friends.
A Service and Celebration of Life will be held at the family ranch on Saturday, November 2 at 11 a.m.
