Helen Jones K

Helen Louise Jones was born March 27, 1923 in Franklin, Texas to Tom and Ollar Vaughn. She died peacefully at home in Oakdale on October 25, 2016. A true child of the Great Depression, she worked in the fields to help support her family of 15. In 1938 she met the love of her life Allen J. Jones, a farmer from Arkansas. They moved to Oakdale, California in 1948 where Allen was drawn to the “Cowboy Capital”. They were married for 42 years until Allen died in 1980. Helen was a homemaker and was the best southern cook around. There was never a time you could step foot in her home without being offered a glass of iced tea, food or delicious dessert she had prepared. Southern hospitality was her brand. Helen was also a child of God, a true “prayer warrior”, raised Southern Baptist and converted to Assembly of God Church, she spent 30 years of her life teaching Sunday School to the children of her community. She loved her family unconditionally, they always came first, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Helen is survived by her daughter Ruth Ann Bradley, son Rick W. Jones (Rachel), daughter in-law Nadine Jones, seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, sister Jeannie Foote and brother Victor Vaughn. She is preceded in death by husband Allen, second husband Ned Northey, sons Joe and Don, two grandchildren, her mother and father, and 10 siblings. We are forever grateful to her caregivers Micah Carpenter and Elodia Montes.
Viewing Thursday, Nov. 3, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Funeral will be held Friday, Nov. 4, 10 a.m. at Riverbank Assembly of God Church.
