Doris ‘Annette’ Olson, 85, died Wednesday, Jan. 9 at home surrounded by family in Seattle, Wash.

She was born in Pushmataha County, Oklahoma and grew up in Placerville.

She met and married Aubrey Olson in 1944 and together they had a family of six sons and one daughter.

She moved to Oakdale around 1970 and raised her children and worked in Oakdale until after her husband’s death in 1985.

Mrs. Olson was an avid reader, gardener, and crossword puzzle pro, but her true joy was spending time with her family and she was at her happiest when she was with them.

As a working mom, she always found a way to balance the family’s needs which meant putting her children first. There was never a dull moment in the Olson household, which was always open to friends and filled with unconditional love and laughter. Her smile and humor were second to none.

She is survived by her sons, Aubrey David, Cal, Rick, David, Michael; daughter, Shawne; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey; and son, Chuck.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 830 W. F St., Oakdale. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, also at the chapel. A graveside service will follow.
