Donnie McCormick, 85, of Oakdale died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014 in Modesto surrounded by family and friends.

She was born Feb. 1, 1929 in Purcell, Oklahoma to Johnnie and Ollie Bratcher. She was married in 1949 and moved to South San Francisco where she worked for an airport catering service. Donnie later moved to Oakdale where she and her husband bought acreage. She worked for Hunt-Wesson Foods for 21 years before retiring.

She loved and was loved by her devoted family. She enjoyed returning to her Oklahoma roots as often as possible.

Survivors include her daughters, Sharon McCormick of Oakdale and Hylee (James) Griffith of Modesto; sister, Hilie Payton of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Shane Griffith and Chelsea (Mike) McKently of Modesto; two great grandsons and a number of nieces and nephews, as well as good friend Todd Olson of Oakdale.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth “Red” McCormick, her parents; four brothers, Lenard, Levert, Luther and Laurence; and one sister, Lillie.

Visitation was Tuesday, Aug. 12 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 10 a.m. at Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 830 West F St., Oakdale. Graveside service to follow at Oakdale Citizen Cemetery, 701 East J St., Oakdale.
