Donald Scott Don Husing
1030 Obit D Husing

Donald Scott ‘Don’ Husing, 71, died peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 29 at his home in Santa Cruz.

He was born in Stockton and later moved with his parents and brother to Oakdale, where he graduated from grammar school and later Oakdale High in 1959. He then continued his college years in Hollister at Gavilan College, graduating with an AA Degree.

From 1965 to 1967 he served in the U.S. Army as a Broadcast specialist, which included all phases of radio broadcasting.

After the service he and a longtime friend traveled throughout Europe for several months. After returning home he settled in Santa Cruz and went to work on the radio, KLRS, KOMY and finally at KSCO where he was employed until he passed away.

Mr. Husing was a walking encyclopedia when it came to music of all kinds, music artists, and radio personalities. He was a collector of old radio shows on tape, vinyl, and cd. His home was a wonderful museum of radio comedy, cowboy heroes and other wonderful memorabilia.

He was dearly loved by friends, co-workers and music artists alike and will be forever missed.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Hutton’s Hamlet, 132 West G St., Oakdale. Please join in remembering him.
