Daniel Patrick Pettit, 67, died Saturday, June 29.

He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He was a resident of Oakdale for the past five years, and also for approximately five years during the 1990s.

Mr. Pettit served his country in the Army from Dec. 1965 to Dec. 1967.

He had a great love for his family, friends, and the New York Jets and Mets. Although his life ended shorter than hoped, he led a full life and experienced and accomplished more than he imagined.

He was a great man, husband, father, grandfather, and coach. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Cynthia; children, Daniel (Robin), Derrick (Carla), Dawn (Joshua); sisters, Valerie, Helen (Dave); and grandchildren, Christian, Meghan, and Luke.

A mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oakdale.
