Charles Lavern “Vern” Wilson, 84, of Sun City, AZ passed away on Good Friday (March 25, 2016) at his home following complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Pop was born in Shawnee, OK on Jan. 12, 1932. Vern graduated from Fremont High School in 1950 and after attended Abilene Christian College, went into preaching the gospel which he did for over 50 years. He met and married Rosemarie Etchison in 1953 and they had four sons together; Tom (Loie) of Oakdale, Ted (Angela) of Chandler, AZ, Tim (Kelly) of Manteca, and Taylor of Fresno. Vern has one surviving brother, Don (82), of Mesa, AZ. In 1989 his beloved Rose passed away and he married Lucille Lovelady Davenport and they moved to Carmichael, CA. They had many wonderful years together until Lucille unexpectedly passed away on his birthday in 2009. Pop married Beth Dye in 2010 and they relocated to Sun City, AZ to be closer to Beth’s three grown children in 2013. Beth lovingly cared for Pop at home until his death. The Wilson family tenderly thank Beth and her three children Alison, Tim, Shelly, and family loved-one Kathy Sharp for their love, compassion, and care for Pop. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 1 at the Glendale Church of Christ in Glendale, AZ.
