Born San Francisco, California to Charles and Mabel DuVal, beloved husband of Shirley DuVal (of 63 years), beloved father of Cheryl Potter (Gregory), Craig DuVal (Mary), Stephanie Hicks (Kevin), cherished grandfather of Jenene DuVal Buxton (Spencer), Luke and James DuVal, Christopher and Michael Potter, Katerina and Julia Hicks.
Chuck was educated at Sacred Heart High School San Francisco; attended St. Mary’s College, Moraga; received BA from USF; MBA from Pepperdine.
Chuck was employed by General Mills, Lodi; completed a 32-year career with Hershey Chocolate in Oakdale as comptroller before retiring.
He was very active in civic affiliations, including OBA, Kiwanis Club, Oak Valley Community Hospital Foundation, co-founder OHS Boosters Club, Hershey representative on Oakdale Planning Commission, United Way Board Member Modesto, RCIA Board Member (Stockton Diocese).
He was awarded Oakdale Citizen of the Year in 2001. He was very committed to his Catholic faith and was a member of St. Mary’s church where he was co-coordinator of the RCIA Process, educating adults entering into the Catholic church. He was also a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at St. Mary’s and a member of the Finance Committee.
Chuck enjoyed reading, sports, and travel. He was an avid runner for over 45 years. He ran countless 5k runs and half marathons up until his mid-70s.
Chuck’s passion was his family and he loved spending time with them and going on family vacations. He leaves a lifetime of treasured memories for all who loved him.
Viewing is February 11, 2022, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Oakdale Mortuary. Funeral mass is February 12, 2022, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oakdale. Burial is private.
In lieu of flowers, any contributions may be made to United Way of Stanislaus County.
