Andrew Charles Murphy, 87, died Sunday, July 14.

He was a resident of Oakdale for 34 years.

Mr. Murphy served in the U.S. Naval Medical Corp for eight years during World War II and the Korean War.

He was the President and founder of M.R.D. Fashions, a lifetime member of Western Ski Reps. Association, President of Adver-Tours USA, and President and founder of (A.H.S.O.) American Homestay Student Organization. He was Past Master of San Ramon Valley Masonic Lodge #724 and Oak Summit Lodge #112, a member of Aahmes Shrine, Past President of Oakdale Shrine Club, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Royal Order of the Scotland, the 1992 dual recipient of the Masonic Hiram Award, and 2004 Mason of the Year Award. He was also a volunteer for the Oakdale CAPS.

He is survived by his sons, Michael and Dennis Murphy; daughter, Kathleen Scheiber; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Grace.

A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 4349 Cowell Road, Concord.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in his name to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95817.
