Alene G. Lemons, 86, died Wednesday, Dec. 2 in Modesto.

She was born in Gainesville, Texas. She moved to Oakdale as a young teenager and lived in Stockton from 1956-2007 before moving back to Modesto two years ago to live near her daughter.

Mrs. Lemons enjoyed sewing, cooking and camping, and was a long-time member of the Free Methodist Church in Stockton.

She is survived by her daughters, Ernestine Vernon and Lina Britton; sisters, Dovie Maurer, Jeanie Goldsmith, and Mary Graves; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest ‘Barney’ Lemons; son, Garland Wayne Lemons; four brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral services were held Dec. 6 at the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Lodi.
