Willy Wonka KIDS Slated Through SRT
jr srt

SRT, Sierra Repertory Theatre, Jr is enrolling participants for its upcoming production of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka KIDS.

Kids ages 10- to 17-years-old are being encouraged to apply and they are accepting up to 25 students for the production.

Willy Wonka KIDS follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka’s rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences.

Tuition for those accepted into the SRT Jr program is $250 and includes a materials fee. Full or partial scholarships are available and made possible by generous sponsors like Sonora Area Foundation and Mary Stuart Rogers Foundation. For more information about scholarships, email SRT at education@sierrarep.org.

Rehearsal dates are Jan. 24 through March 10, with performances March 11 through 13 at the Fallon House Theatre in Columbia State Park.
