This week has been an exciting one for our Valley Home kids that are now Oakdale High School Mustangs! With school doors open, and still wearing masks inside, our Valley Home kids are involving themselves in tons of different high school activities ... oh the joy of being in high school. We all remember those happy days! I had the opportunity this past week to listen to a conversation among some of our Valley Home/Oakdale High students ... they were making plans to be part of our Oakdale High’s FFA Float in the rodeo parade. It was such fun listening to their happy excited planning! Their laughter made it obvious the fun they were having! The Oakdale Rodeo Parade would take place on Saturday morning ... they were so proud to be part of this great tradition. On Saturday it was an enthusiastic group of Oakdale High School FFA students that rode on decorated trucks through the streets of Oakdale. They were an amazing sight to see representing Oakdale High School FFA! Our Oakdale cheerleaders had tons of spirit as they made their way through the parade. It was easy to see that each cheerleader shared tremendous pride at being an Oakdale High School Mustang! Leading off the 2021 Oakdale Rodeo Parade was the Oakdale Saddle Club. Throughout the parade enthusiastic youth groups, beautiful horses, amazing vehicles, businesses, personal entries, and much more made the streets of Oakdale come alive with children’s laughter and great happiness for everyone!

Back to Friday evening ... it was such a great pleasure to once again enjoy High School Football! The scrimmage between Oakdale High and Tracy High brought back happy memories of watching the kids play on our beautiful Oakdale High School football field. Our field is one of the most amazing fields in our area ... its vibrant colors, really just shouts out victory! Several people heading into the stadium were overheard commenting and especially appreciated the way Oakdale High is handling the mask situation ... the sign outside the stadium said ... if you are not vaccinated, you should wear a mask. We wish our Oakdale High Mustangs a great and very successful season! Go Mustangs!
