Valley Home 4-H ... What a great treasure it is to have such a wonderful opportunity for our youngsters. Our community 4-H leader Mr. Sean Haynes invites area youngsters to become a part of this fun, learning experience by joining Valley Home 4-H! 4-H enables our youth to gain confidence in themselves, learn many skills, make friends, serve their community, and become the leaders of tomorrow! Several years ago our 4-Hers came up with a plan to hold an old fashioned Christmas in Valley Home, they worked together, with the community members, and with the school and all these many years later their efforts and leadership lives on in our community at Christmas time. Valley Home 4-Hers have gathered countless items during the holidays helping many families. Over the past several years our 4-Hers have mowed, chopped weeds, and planted shrubs at the community park. Years ago the group planted a beautiful small Christmas tree which each Christmas now welcomes carolers to sing together around its lovely branches. Besides the many projects during the year, the 4-Hers also host a community Easter Egg Hunt. During the Oakdale Rodeo the 4-Hers work at their food booth to provide refreshments and great food to rodeo goers! On Memorial Day our 4-Hers honor our Veterans and the fallen by laying a wreath, raising and lowering the flag, and giving heartfelt speeches at Valley Home Memorial Park. Our 4-Hers have a great sense of pride and work hard to make Valley Home such a special place to live! In October the group will travel to Monterey for an overnight fun trip to the aquarium. 4-H sign-ups will continue through October 6th. For more information please call Sean Haynes at 209-324-7286 or Winnie Mullins at 209-985-5233.

We end this week’s column with great appreciation, thoughts, and prayers for our firefighters who continue to work 24/7 statewide. Our local firefighters are dedicated to those they serve. Thank you to each and every one of you. May God protect you each, as you protect each of us!
