Family and friends were treated to a most special evening this past Friday night! The afterschool program presented a delightful Christmas program filled with magic and holiday spirit. The hard work of Tom Cassinetto, Bonnie Gellerman and their wonderful assistants provided the most spectacular holiday entertainment. The program featured Valley Home school students and every scene brought huge applause! A very special highlight was an appearance by recording artist Rich Price. Mr. Price is the grandfather of Valley Home 1st grader Sarah Gruenig and sister Caroline Gruenig. Mr. Price, dressed in the most beautiful sparkling Western attire, played guitar and led the 1st grade class in a rousing rendition of “California Christmas”! Our community is honored to have Diane and Rich Price as part of our Valley Home family! Thank you Rich for making our night so special!

Valley Home School held a Christmas canned food and clothing drive. It was heartwarming to see the generous spirit of our students and their families. Please remember those less fortunate as Christmas gifts are unwrapped and new things take the place of old. The “Community Sharing Food Bank/Clothing Bank” in Oakdale welcomes your donations and is open on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. They are located at 579 Center Street in Oakdale.

Our Valley Home School Christmas Store was a tremendous success. The store provided a magical way for students to purchase gifts, have them wrapped and delivered to their classrooms for under the tree surprises for family and friends on Christmas morning! Special thanks to Santa’s helpers for creating such a wonderful holiday experience for our students.

As we end this week’s column, we count our many blessings to live in Valley Home. Over the past few weeks the peaceful twinkling of hundreds of Christmas lights have reminded us of the joy of living in this community. Good neighbors, a tremendous school, beautiful churches, a wonderful 4-H club, a well-stocked general store, dedicated, well-trained firefighters, and the great world champion bucking bull Bushwacker all combine to make Valley Home the perfect place to live!

We wish every one of you a very Merry Christmas and hope all of you enjoy this special season with family and dear friends!
