Seeing our Rodeo Grounds come to life once again is like a bright ray of sunshine! COVID has forced our world famous Oakdale Rodeo to cancel events and lock the gates for over a year. Once again the sun is shining on our rodeo cowgirls and cowboys. It is such a blessing to see those pickups pulling horse trailers traveling through Valley Home. It is especially exciting to know that they are headed for one of the most well-known rodeos in the world … our Oakdale Rodeo grounds! What a wonderful sight to see. I guess I have always taken our beautiful rodeo grounds for granted. I just never thought something called COVID could ever shut down this legendary rodeo! Contestants have won beautiful buckles, thousands of dollars and worldwide fame at our Oakdale Rodeo! Country Western superstar Chris Ledoux wrote a tremendous tribute to this amazing rodeo in his hit song “Running thru the rain”. As COVID restrictions are lifted and our iconic rodeo grounds are once again able to welcome folks back, we send a huge ‘Thank You’ to the Oakdale Saddle Club. Normally held in April, this year we will hear these famous words: “It’s Rodeo Time in Oakdale, California” in August! What a great blessing it will be to see the 69th Annual Oakdale Rodeo come to life once again.
