Congratulations to a wonderful Valley Home couple, Larry and Maryann Fraguero. The Fragueros live on a beautiful ranch here in Valley Home and are celebrating their 28th wedding anniversary! Many guests at their wedding 28 years ago still recall the beautiful day all these years later. Larry and Maryann celebrated their anniversary this past week with a beautiful cake from Moss Rose Bakery. A gift from a very special friend.

Valley Home 4-H was well represented at the ceremony for our fallen veterans on May 28th. The 4-Hers laid the wreath for the ultimate sacrifice at the bottom of the flag, they raised the flag and Callie Chrisman with Austin Xavier by her side, gave a remarkable speech honoring her grandfather and all veterans. It was a somber day with a 21-gun salute and a lone bugler playing Taps in the distance. We are deeply grateful for our men and women who served so that we can live free. Remember freedom is not free!

Oakdale Rural Fire Board held a special meeting last Wednesday at Station 30. The meeting was held to hear concerns of those who live in the Division 1 north area. The general discussion was centered around the annexation of Div. 1 north. Several folks from the area voiced their feelings on the annexation. At this meeting most voiced their opposition to being included in the possible annexation. Only one person was in favor! LAFCO will be sending out more information to those affected by a possible annexation. The Oakdale Rural Fire Board, along with Cal Fire, LAFCO and Stanislaus Consolidated made it clear that this was an information meeting only. They were there to answer questions and hear comments. With fire season upon us, please follow the tips from our fire service and enjoy a safe summer!

The next Fire Boarding meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 7 at the Valley Home Fire station at 10 a.m.
