A 30-year-old Oakdale man died of injuries sustained in a Saturday evening three-vehicle crash along Albers Road.

At approximately 8:49 p.m., the California Highway Patrol (CHP) received a call of a traffic crash on Albers Road, south of Valk Road. Emergency personnel arrived on scene and located three vehicles with moderate to major damage. The driver of a 1999 Chevrolet pickup, identified by the Stanislas County Coroner’s Office as Enrique Valadez, 30, of Oakdale, suffered major injuries. Authorities said he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The drivers of a Volvo Tractor Trailer combination and a Honda Accord did not sustain serious injuries, said officials.

The preliminary CHP investigation indicates Valadez was traveling in the Chevrolet southbound on Albers Road, south of Valk Road, in the number one lane. The driver of the Volvo Tractor Trailer combination was traveling northbound on Albers Road, south of Valk Road, in the number oner lane, while the driver of the Honda Accord was driving behind the Chevrolet pickup in the number one southbound lane. Authorities said Valadez unsafely turned his truck to the left and crashed into the left front of the Volvo Tractor Trailer combination. This impact caused the Volvo to turn to the left and subsequently collide with the Honda Accord.

It is believed alcohol may have been a factor in this traffic crash, according to the CHP. All parties were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Albers Road was temporarily closed from Claribel Road to Patterson Road during the investigation.
