Summer Reading Challenge Continues At Local Libraries
Stanislaus county library

The Summer Reading Challenge, “Find Your Voice,” continues through Tuesday, Aug. 1. Children and teens participate by keeping track of each day they read or are read to for at least 30 minutes. Adults are asked to track each book they read and can choose to also write brief reviews of the books they read this summer.

Participants of all ages are invited to join a drum circle, led by Drum Love, a local non-profit that seeks to remove barriers to improvisational music-making for all. A drum circle is more than just a fun experience. It’s music education that combines fun with metaphors about community, equality, friendship, stress management and active listening. No musical training is needed to participate and enjoy a drum circle experience. For dates and times of drum circles, visit the library’s online calendar at www.stanlibrary.org.
