Students Lend Helping Hand To Hungry
Food drive
OJHS

With a goal of helping those in need in the local community have a bountiful Thanksgiving, students at Oakdale Junior High School and Oakdale High participated in a couple of different food drives in November.

The OJHS Rams’ collection effort was known as “Stuff the Bus” and ran for a week on the local campus prior to the long Thanksgiving break from school. Students brought in canned goods and non-perishable food items and collected more than 13,000 pounds during the drive. The donated food will be utilized by food banks within the community of Oakdale.

Meanwhile, at Oakdale High School, the effort was headed up by the OHS Leadership students and brought in an estimated four truckloads of food. That was enough to make up more than five dozen boxes of complete Thanksgiving meals. The meal boxes, 65 in all, were delivered to the local Center for Human Services and then were distributed to local families to provide them with a full holiday dinner.
