Average gasoline prices in Modesto have risen 1.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.37/gallon as of Feb. 14, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 201 stations in Modesto. Prices in Modesto are 6.0 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand $1.16/gallon higher than a year ago.

The national average price of gasoline has risen 4.6 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.47/gallon. The national average is up 16.5 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 97.2 cents per gallon higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.

According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Modesto was priced at $3.91/gallon on Feb. 14 while the most expensive was $4.99, a difference of $1.08/gallon. The lowest price in the state was $3.79 while the highest was $5.89, a difference of $2.10/gallon.

Neighboring areas and their current gas prices include: Stockton - $4.47/gallon, up 1.1 cents per gallon from last week’s $4.46; Oakland - $4.72, up 3.9 cents from $4.68; and San Jose - $4.73, up 1.4 cents per gallon from last week’s $4.72/gallon.

“Not only are oil prices up, but the bulk of the nation is starting the multi-month transition to summer gasoline, further adding to the rise at the pump,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “In addition, cold weather in Texas last week caused some power outages at major refineries, further weighing on markets.”
