An Oakdale police sergeant is being treated at a local hospital after being struck by a vehicle while conducting a DUI investigation on Wednesday evening, Aug. 3. The 22-year veteran of the Oakdale Police Department suffered a broken leg and will undergo surgery Thursday, Aug. 4. He is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery, said police.

Just after 8 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a traffic collision involving two vehicles in the 1300 block of West F Street. Officers and fire personnel arrived on scene to investigate the traffic collision. During that investigation, the sergeant was struck by a vehicle heading eastbound. Oakdale Police personnel are assisting CHP with the investigation. It does not appear that alcohol or drugs are a factor in the collision that resulted in injuries to the OPD sergeant and no charges will be filed against the driver who struck him.
