Celebrate safe and sane this Fourth of July.

The Oakdale Police Department has issued a reminder to local residents to remember that the only fireworks permitted in the City of Oakdale are ones that don’t leave the ground. That includes fountains, sparklers, smokeballs, snake-type fireworks, ground-spinning fireworks, and pinwheels.

Local officers had a chance recently to swing by one of the fireworks stands around the city; there are multiple locations where organizations are selling the fire marshal-approved Safe and Sane variety.

“Let’s be safe this Independence Day,” the department statement said. “We will be fully staffed this weekend to respond to any emergencies.”
