The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Aug. 3 through Monday, Aug. 9. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, AUG. 9

Crews returned safely around 7:30 p.m. after almost two weeks deployed to the Dixie Fire assigned to Strike Team 4201C.

11:07 p.m. – Modesto Fire Department and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District responded to Oakdale Road and Claribel Road for a travel trailer on fire. No injuries resulted from the fire. Stanislaus County FIU is investigating.

 

SUNDAY, AUG. 8

1:45 p.m. – Modesto Engine 7 responded to a vehicle accident at the Crossroads Shopping Center in Riverbank. No injuries were reported.

 

SATURDAY, AUG. 7

Modesto Fire continues to provide support as part of the statewide mutual aid system. Two MFD Battalion Chiefs remain assigned as strike team leaders on the Dixie fire in Butte County. Crews are assigned to Division J for a 24-hour operational period.

8 a.m. – Crews conducted a mock probationary firefighter test/training to further prepare the firefighters for their upcoming probationary test.

Station 28 crews worked on redoing the gym floor at the station on Willowood Drive in Oakdale.

 

FRIDAY, AUG. 6

Two MFD Battalion Chiefs are managing a strike team on the Dixie fire. Over 80,000 acres burned in their area yesterday. The strike team was busy with structure protection on a 24-hour shift cycle.

Crews rotated through Station 4 for equipment orientation.

THURSDAY, AUG. 5

The two Battalion Chiefs serving as strike team leaders are assigned to the Dixie Fire and doing well. They have been working near the town of Chester on an active area of the fire.

 

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 4

Two MFD Battalion Chiefs assigned to the Dixie Fire as part of a Type III Strike Team report that they were off the fire line for a rest period yesterday. They had been working in Division J performing tactical patrol and supporting a hose lay within their division, which was very active.

1:15 p.m. – Modesto crews responded to a vegetation fire on Rodden Road in Oakdale. Upon arrival, a small roadside fire was found.

 

TUESDAY, AUG. 3

Modesto Fire is continuing to provide support on major incidents at the state level. Two Battalion Chiefs are currently serving as Strike Team Leaders at the Dixie Incident in Butte County.

6:24 a.m. – Modesto Fire Department was dispatched to a subject that was passed out in a vehicle near the covered bridge in Knights Ferry. The subject was later determined to be deceased. Stanislaus County Sheriff investigated and found that there was no foul play in connection with the incident.

4:46 p.m. – Modesto, Stanislaus, and Hughson Fire responded to a vehicle accident that also ignited a vegetation fire. The initial accident was near Frazine Road. The vegetation fire was caused by a fleeing vehicle that drove through and crashed on a vacant property on Gomes Road. The fire extended to two outbuildings and approximately five acres. No injuries were reported. Stanislaus Sheriff and CHP are investigating.
