The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.
Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Nov. 26 through Monday, Dec. 2. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.
MONDAY, DEC. 2
The training division began the first day of the MST Captains Academy. Personnel will go through two weeks of training preparing them for the duties of a Fire Captain.
Battalion 2: Crews completed weekly equipment checks.
Battalion 5: Crews completed Monday apparatus checks/maintenance.
Crews worked on finishing annual training.
SUNDAY, DEC. 1
Battalion 2: 12:31 p.m. – Engine 24, Engine 23, Engine 4456, and BC2 responded to La Grange off road park for a side-by-side rollover accident with two patients. One immediate patient was flown from the scene by CalStar and the delayed second patient went by Oak Valley Ambulance.
3:39 p.m. – Engine 26, Engine 7, Truck 5 and BC1 responded to a reported motor vehicle accident with entrapment on Coffee Road. Engine 7 arrived with AMR to find a single vehicle involved with negative entrapment. Engine 7 canceled the balance and CHP is investigating.
Battalion 5: Crews performed apparatus checks and station maintenance.
Companies conducted training in their respective FMA’s.
Crews worked on completing year-end Target Solutions Training.
Crews worked on finishing up yearly hydrant maintenance.
Engine 29 participated in the Knights Ferry Christmas Parade.
Engine 27 and Truck 5 conducted TFA sign offs.
SATURDAY, NOV. 30
Battalion 5: Crews in Battalion 5 conducted Saturday station maintenance as well as completed their end of the year training task books and Target Safety assignments.
8:48 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27, Engine 24, Engine 26, Engine 9, Engine 7, Quint 22, Truck 5, BC5, BC2 and Medic 1 were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at a business of Armstrong Way in Oakdale. Crews arrived on scene and found an exhaust fan in a bathroom had caught fire. E28 quickly contained the fire to the fan and used E27 for help in removing smoke from the building. All other units were cancelled, and the incident was closed.
FRIDAY, NOV. 29
Crews worked on completing the remainder of annual training.
Battalion 2: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Crews completed annual training on Vector Solutions.
Battalion 5: Engine 27’s crew trained on hose and ventilation evolutions at the Station 17 training center.
THURSDAY, NOV. 28
Battalion 2: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Crews completed annual training on Vector Solutions.
Battalion 5: 11:20 p.m. – Engine 27, E26, E28 and BC5 were dispatched to a vehicle accident on Highway 108 east of Orange Blossom. When crews arrived on scene they found a car that had driven into the embankment. There were no injuries and CHP was called for the investigation.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 27
Battalion 2: Station 24 completed its FMA drill for the year – Engines 21, 23, 24, and 27 were accompanied by Quint 22 and Water Tenders 21, 23, and 27. The focus was on a rural water supply operation with defensive conditions at a large poultry barn.
Battalion 5: 8:55 p.m. – Engine 3, Engine 7, Engine 9, Engine 26, Engine 27, Engine 28, Truck 5, Quint 22, Medic 1, BC1, BC5, and FIU responded for a report of a commercial working structure fire in the 3000 block of Patterson Road in Riverbank. Crews arrived on scene of a large metal building with a large amount of steam coming from the building. Crews worked in the offensive mode and confirmed what was being seen was steam from a wood drying kiln and there was negative fire extension beyond the kiln.
TUESDAY, NOV. 26
Battalion 2: Stanislaus Consolidated water rescue instructors met at Station 24 to discuss the training plan for 2025.
Battalion 5: 2:05 p.m. – Engine 21, Engine, 23, Engine 26, Engine 27, Engine 28, Engine 29, Quint 22, Medic 1, BC2, BC5, and FIU responded to a residential working structure fire in the 1000 block of Atlas Road in Oakdale. Crews arrived on scene of a two-story residence with fire in the second story and exterior of the home. Crews operated in the offensive mode and quickly extinguished the fire. All occupants of the home were out of the house and uninjured; FIU is investigating the incident.
