opd

Wednesday, Jan. 18, Oakdale Police Department investigators arrested Nicholas Stewart, an officer with the Oakdale Police Department, after evidence shows he committed multiple felony crimes against his former spouse. Stewart is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, stalking, and domestic abuse for crimes that occurred over a three-year period between 2019 and 2022. Oakdale PD investigators were only recently made aware of the allegations and arrested him within a few days of being informed.

“The Oakdale Police Department will not tolerate domestic violence of any form,” said Chief of Police Jerry Ramar. “We promise a thorough investigation. I can assure our community that the actions of this officer do not reflect the high standards held by the men and women who serve in the Oakdale Police Department and the law enforcement profession.”

Stewart is on paid administrative leave per department policy. Oakdale PD detectives will not make any further statements because this is an active investigation.
