Rolling to a 14-0 edge in the first quarter, top seed Oakdale had little trouble putting away Patterson on Friday night, Nov. 19 in semifinal football action.

The host Mustangs staked their claim to a spot in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 3 finals with a solid 33-7 win over the No. 5 seed Tigers.

The Corral crowd was ready to go, cheering on the home team, and they were not disappointed, as the Mustangs had a 20-7 lead at the half and put the game away with a 13-point third quarter. The Oakdale defense kept Patterson off the board in the second half.

With the win, the Mustangs move on to play for the blue banner, with the game scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26 at St. Mary’s High School in Stockton. Their opponent for that game will be Valley Oak League rival Manteca. The Buffaloes, coming in as the No. 3 seed, were 27-3 winners over No. 2 Lincoln on Nov. 19, setting up the all VOL showdown for the Section crown.
