Monday Celebration Keeps Focus On Area Veterans
flag

Scheduled for Monday, Nov. 11, the Second Annual Veterans Day Parade in Oakdale will kick off festivities to recognize the service and sacrifice of area veterans.

Monday is Veterans Day, a federal holiday and all federal, state and local government offices are closed. Banks are closed, there is no mail delivery and businesses have the option of closing.

In Oakdale, there will be a parade and then a ceremony, with the events hosted on the west side of town. The local VFW Post 2922 will host the special Veterans Day Ceremony at Fish Park at 11 a.m.

The parade itself – with all entries welcome – will line up at 9 a.m. on Lee Avenue and step off at 10 a.m., traveling west along Pontiac Street and ending at Fish Park, where the ceremony will be held.

Those interested in participating or helping in any way may contact Cherilyn Bairos at (209) 496-1134.

Members of the VFW Auxiliary will set up and serve a lunch following the Veterans Day ceremony.
