According to a press release issued late Tuesday afternoon by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched to the 9500 block of Victory Avenue just outside of Oakdale about 8:35 p.m. Monday for a subject who had been involved in a fight.
When the first deputy arrived on scene he contacted a man identified as Roque Palomino, 53, of Riverbank. The Sheriff’s Office Dive team and helicopter were called out to assist deputies in searching for Cynthia Palomino. As deputies continued searching for her, they found her in an orchard not far from where they located the truck in the canal. Cynthia Palomino was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Homicide detectives were called out to take over the investigation. They processed the crime scene and interviewed witnesses throughout the evening. Detectives have arrested Roque Palomino for homicide and he was booked at the Stanislaus County Jail.
