Congratulations to the Knights Ferry students of the month for October: Troy and James Peterson, First Grade, Anthony Neely and Breanna Banks, Fourth Grade, Makena Mendonca, Fifth Grade, Makali Willis, Sixth Grade, Kaeli Sweet, Seventh Grade and Ray Patton, Eighth Grade. They were awarded certificates at a recent assembly. Also Luke Dickens and Josh Reese won the Super Student drawing.

November activities in Knights Ferry are: November 6th Community Club dessert meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the clubhouse.
November 12th History and Museum Associates meet at 9:00 a.m. at Miller’s Hall. November 13th is the meeting of Knights Ferry Garden Club at Maureen McKibban’s home. They will be making Christmas tray favors for the rest homes. November 14th is the Knights Ferry School board meeting. There will be a special meeting at 6:00 p.m. for parents and community to discuss the school safety plan. November 17th will be a breakfast at the I.O.O.F. Hall to support the Jr. High’s trip to Washington D.C. November 26th is the annual Feast served to the community by the Jr. High students.

Congratulations go out to Helene Nilsson who won the Masters 5K Salmon Run November 2 in the Ferry. She said the hardest place to run was uphill from the Covered Bridge to the Roadhouse. This is the 6th Masters win for Helene. Also running were her husband Pontus, who came in 2nd in his age group, and daughter Julia who placed 2nd in her age group. Congratulations to the family!

Maureen McKibban visited her daughter Kate and family in Greenwich, Connecticut. She enjoyed baking cookies with granddaughter Emma and taking her to ballet class. She attended Emma’s preschools Back to School Night and spent some time shopping and just enjoying family. It was Kate’s birthday so they all went out for a birthday lunch.

It was good to see Thor (Will) Hoefer, grandson of Bill and Kay Martinelli, up from West Hills College in Coalinga. Thor received a Rodeo Scholarship from his Idaho school to attend West Hills. He rides bulls!

The town was VERY crowded Sunday for the 50th annual Pumpkin Roll. The line at breakfast was out the door and down the street. There were over 400 rollers. The craft booths and food sales were very good. Winners of the trophies were: 0-5 years- Kaley Lanier and Tristan Voortman (3 inches from line), 6-12 year olds, Grace Harden and Dean Dodge, Teens - Angel Rivera and Ray Patton, Seniors, Jim Waterman and Helen Dixon (visiting from Arizona for her 83rd birthday) Women’s winner was Marie Skifter and the Men’s winner was Felix Mendoza.
A representative from Congressman Jeff Denham’s office presented a flag that had flown over the United States Capitol to Carol Davis for the Knights Ferry Cemetery during the Pumpkin Roll.
