Knights Ferry School held its Graduation on June 3rd on the front of the school overlooking the river valley and town. Charlee Birdsong rang the bell to start the program. The eighth Graders processed in and then Kaeli Sweet led the Flag salute and Alyssa Sisco led the “Star Spangled Banner”. Speaker for the evening was Natalie Brockman, Paraprofessional and Band/ Music instructor. Graduates were Mario Aries, Jose Garcia, Sergio Garcia, Aleesha harden, Clay Heffington, Lindsey Largent, Alondra Machado, Julia Nilsson, Ray Patton, Jordan Proch, Kylee Sisco, Julian Velasquez and Megan Willis.
Knights Ferry School held its end of the year assembly last Wednesday. Perfect attendance for the whole year went to Grace Harden, Xavier Olvera, Mikali Willis, Matthew Wolf, Austin Santillo and Ray Patton. Aleesha Harden was recognized for never having missed a day in her 9 years at KFS. Way to go!! Also honored were Wyatt Dickens, Kaeli Sweet, Julia Nilsson and Ray Patton for straight A’s all year. Melissa Holcomb reports that her son Matt (former KF student) is now the Dive Program Coordinator for Audubon Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans. Congratulations!
At the Community Club meeting speaker Salome Garcia gave information for seniors. One is the Bridges Volunteer Drive Program (209-522-2300) where non-driving seniors can have a volunteer drive them and be reimbursed for mileage. She also passed out a pamphlet on Senior Information Line, phone numbers of agencies in Stanislaus County. President Linda Morris reported the Car Show cleared $6,000. The July picnic will be again held in the clubhouse with the club providing hot dogs and drinks and the community providing the rest. Movie night was discussed and will be starting tomorrow, June 12, at 7:30 on the tennis court. The movie will be “Bed knobs and Broomsticks” The club will sell popcorn and water for 50 cents. Bring your blankets, pillows, chairs etc. and enjoy the show!
Miles Shuper was surprised Saturday when he walked into the clubhouse to shouts of “Surprise! Happy Birthday!” Family and friends enjoyed the get-to-gether. Special guest were Miles’ brother Don and his wife Trudy from Redmond, Washington. They had not been to the Ferry for 17 years! Miles and Don both went to Knights Ferry School in the 50’s. Miles does a mean karaoke.
