The Highway Patrolman gave tickets the other day at the stop sign that people don’t seem to stop at. Maybe this ticketing will help!

At the MAC meeting last Thursday some issues with the phone building addition came up, namely a set back issue the County had with the plans. Knights Ferry is exempt from setbacks because of the Historical designation so the MAC will inform the County the building is good to go. Also discussed was the Oakdale Irrigation District’s $5.00 service charge to all hookups. The street going up to the school is two-way, and one-way down the backside. Residences on the street have had problems with drivers taking the whole road.

Carla and Matt Doshas have returned from a two-week tour of Italy. They liked Venice and the Vatican.

The First and Second graders at Knights Ferry School went to Cover’s Apple Farm last Friday. They got to see how an old fashion apple peeler worked and how to make an apple pie. All enjoyed the trip!

Michael and Maureen McKibban have returned from a two-week tour of China. They started in Beijing where they visited Tian-An-Men Square and the Forbidden City. Michael walked on the Great Wall; Maureen did not make the stairs because of her leg. They saw the Olympic City. Then it was on to Lhasa, Tibet where they saw the summer residence of the Dalai Lama, took in some museums and markets, visited with a local family and watched monks chant at the Sera Monastery. Next stop was Chengdu, home of the Giant Pandas where they explored the Panda breeding center. From there the next stop was Xian, the ancient capital of eleven dynasties. The Terracotta Warriors was a highlight of the trip. This life-size clay army was to protect the tomb of the first emperor of China. Guilin was the next stop with a cruise on the Li River through the limestone rock formations. Shanghai was the last stop where a museum tour and shopping was planned. Maureen said the mass of people was amazing, you could hardly move. The traffic was another sight. The traffic lights meant nothing as driver went when they wanted and did U-turns across 4 lanes of traffic. The restroom facilities were something that the McKibbans had to deal with, a hole in the floor with two pedestals to stand on and squat. Maureen took advantages of modern facilities whenever she could! They had an interesting time but Maureen said it was a hard trip with all the walking and climbing and crowds.

The trashcans in the park across from the clubhouse are for visitors to town, not household garbage.
