Knights Ferry School held their annual Jog-a-Thon last Friday. Fifth through eighth graders ran first, then the Kindergarteners and grades one through four ran. Many parents ran along with their students. Wyatt Sousa enjoyed running the laps. Madison Willis liked reaching her goal for the run. Katie Schwandt enjoyed seeing Sophie Jones, OJHS student who had a furlough day, and Katie enjoyed spilling water on Elise. Elise Seeds liked getting the Popsicles at the end. Luke Dickens just liked running! It was a great day.

There was Swift Water training at the park last week. Fire personnel rappelled off the bridge to practice rescuing people and practiced in water rescues.

The Knights Ferry School Board approved the July Board Policy update, passed the interdistrict agreements and discussed the September budget at their last meeting.

The Knights Ferry Community Club was the setting for the marriage of Joe Evans to Sugehiry (Sue) Beltran. The ceremony took place inside the clubhouse that was decorated in purple and white. The Reverend Warren Barnhart of San Diego performed the double ring ceremony. He had introduced Joe’s parents, Joe and Jeanette, to each other years ago. The groom’s attendants were Andrew Martinez, James Evans, Michael Bustos, Jake Barber and Corbin Graham. The bride’s attendants were Christina Cendejas, Carina Lelchook, Ester Bono and Jessica Evans. The bride’s mother is Celia Beltran Gomez. The Evans family has lived in the Ferry for many years and the children all went to Knights Ferry School. After the ceremony all adjourned to the tennis court for a lovely dinner on white and purple tables. Joe and Sue are making their home in the Bay area.

Halloween is coming so get your sack of candy and on the 31st be on Main Street at noon, as the school will be coming trick-or-treating through town. It is always fun to see the different costumes.
