Knights Ferry School’s Kindergarteners went to the Community Garden and helped plant a butterfly garden. They also relocated many snails!

Gail and Don Diltz have returned from two trips. One was to Palm Springs where they went to a car show and Street Fest. They went to Indio where they learned the sex life of the date palm! The next trip Don and Gail drove their Jeep with a Jeep group over Hwy 88 in the snow (4-wheeled it). Then they drove over to Bishop and then to Edwards Air Force Base where they got a tour and got to see a drone. On they went to Boron, Oatman, and Las Vegas. Next it was off to Arizona and the Grand Canyon and Sedona. This trip was one week and 2100 miles!

Melissa Holcomb went to Puerto Rico on spring break where son Matt works and became a certified scuba diver! Matt is a scuba instructor in Puerto Rico. Melissa crossed off one on her “bucket list”.

Don’t forget the Civil War is coming to town. The spaghetti dinner is Saturday, March 23 at 5:00 p.m. at the clubhouse. Come spend a day in the Ferry and watch the battles and have dinner.

At the meeting of the Knights Ferry School Board the Superintendent Cheryl Griffiths explained how the safety plan was going. The board passed the Golden Handshake Incentive, the updated job description for the custodian and approved next year’s calendar.

The Parent Teacher Club Dinner and Silent/Live Auction was well attended. The Borba family served a great tasting steak dinner. There were many silent auction items to bid on and also raffle prizes. The live auction featured items from each classroom. The Kindergarten class had a rocking Adirondack chair personalized with fingerprint hungry caterpillars. The First Grade project was a picture with each child’s designed and painted birds using watercolors. They also created a self-portrait coffee table book. The Second Grade burned their names and handprints into a picnic table. The third Grade students cut and assembled two Adirondack chairs under the direction of Bob Mueller. They drilled, hammered, and cut and learned how to use many tools. A photo album was included. Fourth Graders made six mirrors surrounded by glass tiles to hang inside or out. The Fifth Grade sanded, primed and painted benches and added famous quotes and their names. The Sixth Grade project was a western custom table with hinged top. Seventh Graders made tiles to decorate a hand made oak table (made by Randy Russell) and placed a time capsule inside. The Eighth Grade burned their names on the back of a picture frame surrounding a beautiful picture of the Covered Bridge. Congratulations to Tasha Sweet, Chairperson, and her committee for a great night!
