The Knights Ferry School Kindergarteners, First Graders, Second Graders, Fifth Graders, Sixth Graders and the Band all went to Modesto’s Gallo Center for the Arts to see the Opus Hand Bell Choir. Degan Sweet liked that the bells were like piano notes. Jackson Ault thought the band was cool and it amazed him. Grace Harden liked when they banged the bells. Xavier Olvera liked when four players formed a team and rang the bells. Gracie Anderson liked the sing along. They all had a great time.

At the meeting of the History and Museum Associates, the Peddlers Faire was discussed with the date set for April 28th. Sherron McCarthy told of the Knights Ferry Postmark not being used, as all mail has to go to Oakdale and be metered.

There is a new format for the School Board agenda that was unveiled at the last meeting. Nancy Redden was elected President and Maureen McKibban was elected Clerk of the board. There will be a strategic planning meeting for the Board and the public in early February. Among things to discuss is the new Common Core method of teaching. Bev Noe, Secretary, announced her retirement in June and Cheryl Hodge, Aide, will retire in May. The next meeting will be January 17th at 6:30 p.m. at the school.

The Christmas Parade was held in the Ferry last Sunday. It was postponed from the 2nd due to weather. There were more people in the parade than watching it! Ben Cassinetto led off the parade with his tractor made to look like a steam locomotive and pulling a hay wagon full of children. Decorated ATV’s and golf carts followed, with the horse riders bring up the rear. All were decorated for the season.

The Odd Fellows and Rebekahs held their annual Christmas dinner at the hall in the Ferry. The tables were decorated with an assortment of trees and the Christmas tree was in the corner with gifts around it. The members met for appetizers and then dined on juicy roast prime rib and all the fixings. They had a gift exchange and the children enjoyed their gift from Santa.

Knights Ferry Garden Club met for their Christmas luncheon at the home of Barbara Shook. They had a quick meeting then judged the Smokey Bear posters. The winners will be announced in January. They had a fun gift exchange and a lovely lunch, followed by Barbara’s rum cake!
