At the Knights Ferry Community Club meeting, President Linda Morris announced that 4 new tables were purchased to replace 4 old heavy wooden ones. More will be purchased so people who rent the hall will not have to struggle with the old tables. There was a report on the Spaghetti Dinner, very profitable. It took in enough to pay the insurance. Next meeting is May 6th, a dessert meeting with a speaker to be announced.

Owen Haskell is recovering nicely from foot surgery and enjoyed Easter with his family in the Ferry.

Knights Ferry School children in grades K-6 had egg hunts Thursday around the school. Preschoolers attended also. It was a lot of fun.

Sergeant First Class Bobby McCoy was visiting Grandma Betty Rogers and other family members this Easter. Bobby is stationed at Ft. Carson, Colorado.

Easter Sunrise Service was cool and cloudy on Frymire Hill. The large wooden cross, lit on Easter Eve, was dark against the light clouds, with the river valley below in various shades of green. Pastor Tanis led the service with music provided by “Sowing Seeds of Hope Ministry” from Glory Bound Fellowship in Valley Springs. The faithful then gathered in the Frymire home for food and fellowship. A beautiful way to start Easter!

The Shearer family’s 31st annual Easter Bash was attended by 80 family and friends, many bringing their children to hunt eggs as they had done as children. It was cool for the hunt then cooler for dinner, so many ate in the house or back yard where the wind was less. Next year Easter is at the end of April so it should be warm.

test swrm weekend. She refers to the baby right now as ‘sug’ – short for sugar packet – since that’s roughly the size of the baby at this time, and my nephew calls it ‘Maynard’ since he is supposed to come up with a boy name but hasn’t done so yet. Maynard is just the interim choice. We think.

 

As I write this column we are getting ready for another round of games. Ping pong balls are being bounced on a table in hopes of landing them in a cup and people are blowing decks of cards off the top of a bottle, trying to keep one last card balanced on the top. The rain is starting to fall and the smell of Sunday dinner is beginning to fill the air. Life is good.
