Investigators releasing little information on cases

Two unusual cases are still under investigation through the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, but very little information is being released about them.

Authorities indicated there is a $1,000 reward being offered through CrimeStoppers for any information regarding a body found along Highway 108, near Adams Gravel Plant Road outside Riverbank the afternoon of Tuesday, April 14.

Detectives did not release any information regarding the approximate age of the person or whether the body found was that of a man or a woman, but it was classified as a homicide.

On Friday, May 1, a large Sheriff’s Department response and the closure of a lane of Highway 108/120 at Lover’s Leap near Knights Ferry was reportedly due to a body being found in that location.

Again, no official information was provided by the Sheriff’s Department regarding that case, though Public Information Officer Nathan Crain did indicate that the Major Crimes Unit was on scene.

“This is a very complex and ongoing investigation,” Crain said, adding that more details would be released when it was pertinent to do so.
