Nearly 200 guests turned out at the rustic Old Sugar Mill in Sacramento in late October to ‘Gather and Give’ for Scouts. Guests of the inaugural fundraising event celebrated the essence of Girl Scouting, while raising funds to ensure more girls are afforded the opportunity to participate in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Presented by UC Davis/UC Davis Health, Gather and Give for Girl Scouts generated over $200,000 in revenue and featured hands-on activities unique to Girl Scouting, an array of food and beverages, including hand-crafted Girl Scout cookie-inspired beverages, a Cookie Grab raffle, live auction and Ignite Her Future paddle-raiser.

“Girl Scouts is the leadership pipeline for our country and we must keep that pipeline filled,” stated Girl Scouts Heart of Central California CEO, Dr. Linda E. Farley. “Every girl who wants to be a Girl Scout must have the opportunity to be one — regardless of her socio-economic status or background. We are overwhelmed by the incredible generosity of our supporters through Gather and Give for Girls Scouts, and thank them for igniting every girl’s power to thrive.”

Proceeds of Gather and Give for Girl Scouts will provide financial support to girls and families in need, helping to cover costs associated with memberships, uniforms, activities, camperships and more. Last year alone, GSHCC provided financial support to over 2,250 girls to ensure they could participate in Girl Scouting.

In addition to UC Davis/UC Davis Health, Gather and Give for Girl Scouts was well-supported by Silver Sponsors Baird, Comstock’s, Niello, SMUD, Sutter Health, US Bank Foundation, Verizon, and Wells Fargo; plus, numerous other businesses and individuals who share the vision of empowering every girls’ power to change the world.

Since 1912, Girl Scouts have risen in the face of adversity and worked to build a better tomorrow for everyone.

Headquartered in Sacramento, Girl Scouts Heart of Central California (GSHCC) serves over 20,000 girl and adult members across 18 counties in the Greater Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto areas.
