The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area. Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, July 7 through Monday, July 13.

 

SUNDAY, JULY 12

4:54 p.m. – Engine 9, Engine 7, Water Tender and Brush 27 and BC 1 responded to a vegetation and vehicle fire in the 4100 block of Roselle Avenue. On arrival a fire was found in a field involving vegetation, fence and a vehicle. The fire was contained to the vehicle, fence and half an acre of vegetation. The fire was caused by the occupant using a torch near the dry grass.

7:20 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27, Engine 30, Cal Fire Engine 4471 and BC 5 responded to a motor vehicle accident with possible entrapment on Highway 108 east of Knights Ferry. Engine 4471 arrived to find a single vehicle off the roadway with five occupants with minor injuries and negative entrapment.

9:33 p.m. – Water Rescue 1, Stanislaus Water Rescue 26, Engine 7 and BC 5 responded to a reported water rescue on the Stanislaus River near McHenry Recreation. A total of six subjects were located by Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Air Support Unit. The Salida and Ripon Fire Districts provided support with removing the subjects from the river with negative medical injuries.

 

SATURDAY, JULY 11

4:46 p.m. – Modesto and Stanislaus crews responded to a vegetation and debris fire at McHenry and Claribel. Crews located the fire at an old house site surrounded by orchards. Fire quickly contained to approximately one acre. Fire cause under investigation.

 

FRIDAY, JULY 10

No time listed – EMS electronic patient care report training was conducted for Oakdale crews at Station 28.

4:13 p.m. – Modesto, Stanislaus and Cal Fire units responded to reports of a vegetation fire in the 16000 block of Schell Road in Knights Ferry. Brush 29 arrived on scene to find a debris pile on fire. Brush 29 and one engine from Cal Fire extinguished the fire.

9:04 p.m. – Modesto Engine 28, Engine 29 and Stanislaus BC2 responded for a solo motorcycle accident on Sonora Road and Milton Road. CHP investigating.

 

THURSDAY, JULY 9

03:26 a.m. – Modesto Fire Department, Ceres Fire Department and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District responded to a pallet fire on Reliance Street in Modesto. The fire went to four alarms bringing additional crews from Turlock Fire Department. The fire was brought under control in two hours. Crews remained on scene for most of the morning putting out hot spots. No injuries resulted from the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Stanislaus County Fire Investigation Unit.

No time listed – Modesto Engine 29, Engine 28 and Cal Fire Engine 4470 trained on low angle rope rescue techniques in Knights Ferry.

 

WEDNESDAY, JULY 8

12:17 a.m. – Modesto Fire Department and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire responded to a vehicle injury accident on Claribel Road and Albers Road. Crews utilized extrication tools to open a driver’s side door to access one patient. One patient was transported by Oak Valley Ambulance.

4:18 a.m. – Modesto Fire and Stanislaus Fire responded to a report of a gas leak inside a restaurant in Crossroads Shopping Center in Riverbank. Crews arrived on scene and were able to locate and isolate an appliance that was leaking. PG&E arrived on scene to assist the business staff.

21:49 p.m. – Modesto Brush 28, Brush 27, Water Tender 27, Engine 30 and Battalion 5 responded to a vegetation fire at 26-Mile Road and Dodds Road. The roadside grassfire was quickly contained to less than one-eighth of an acre.

 

TUESDAY, JULY 7

No time listed – Modesto Engine 28, 30, and Battalion 5 responded for a vehicle rollover on 26-Mile Road near Woodward Reservoir. On scene there were three patients that were out of the car walking around. All occupants of the vehicle were checked for injures and denied transport to the hospital.

No time listed – Modesto Engine 28, 27, BC5, and Cal Fire Engine 4470 responded for the report of a vehicle rollover on Willms Road, south of the community of Knights Ferry. On scene was a vehicle rolled off the roadway and into a ditch. There was no occupant of the vehicle. All fire units cleared and the scene was turned over to CHP.
