The Oakdale High School marching band recently participated in a three-day band camp so as to “hit the ground running” at the start of school, said school district band director Ross McGinnis.

He reported that the three-day camp held at OHS is the equivalent to three weeks of classroom time and is to help the band to prepare for fall sports performances and the competition season.

Camp included the band members getting reacquainted with their instruments, practicing formations for field shows, marching basics, and acclimating freshman band members to the culture of the marching band.

The camp included workouts and practice for the OHS marching band, the drum line, and color guard.

This year’s OHS marching band drum major is senior Tyler Campbell.
