Hectic Summer Schedule For Orange Blossom 4H Kids

Orange Blossom 4-H members were busy over the summer showing at Stanislaus County Fair and California State Fair. Members had entries that ranged from photographs, decorated cakes, food preservation, quilting, as well as dogs, rabbits, horses, sheep, and goats. The summer fair season is the end of the project activity that showcases the members’ hard work throughout the year.

 

The following entries were for the 2019 Stanislaus County Fair:

Photography - Joely Muhlenbruch submitted 19 photos and received one Best of Show award, 1st Place (16), 2nd Place (2), and 3rd place (1); Jamie Ruddy Photography, 1st place (1), 2nd place (3), 3rd place (1).

Cake decorating - Jamie Ruddy - Cake Decorating, Best of Show; Jesse Ruddy - Cake Decorating, 2nd place.

Sheep - Kate Brown exhibited the Reserve Champion Blackface Lightweight market lamb and received 1st place True Novice Sheep Showmanship; Trevin Brown earned 2nd place True Novice Showmanship; Hayli McDonald-Serpa exhibited breeding sheep and received 4th and 6th place with her ewe lambs as well as Novice Sheep Showmanship 3rd Place. Maryn Ludlow exhibited a breeding ewe lamb receiving 1st place in class and was the 4-H Champion Novice Showman Champion Junior Ladies Lead Exhibitor and will represent Stanislaus County at the State Fair in 2020.

Goats - Maryn Ludlow, Reserve intermediate breeding goat showman; Rhys Ludlow, Reserve Overall Doe, Champion percentage doe, Champion yearling percentage doe, Champion aged commercial doe, Reserve champion commercial doe, Reserve champion fullblood yearling doe, Reserve champion ram, Champion Dorper ewe, 3rd place market goat, Reserve intermediate market goat showman.

Dogs - Caden Flood earned 1st place in Novice Showmanship and 3rd place in Obedience.

Food Preservation - Cailee Flood earned Best of Show with Blackberry Jelly, 1st place Boysenberry Jelly, 1st place Salsa, 1st place Chipotle Salsa, 2nd place Apple Pie Jam; Caden Flood earned 1st place with Blackberry Jelly, 1st place Salsa, 1st place Chipotle Salsa, 2nd Place Apple Pie Jam.

Quilting - Caden Flood earned 2nd place with rag quilt.

Woodworking - Caden Flood earned 1st place for birdhouse.

Horse - Cailee Flood earned 1st place Western Horsemanship, 1st place Western Pleasure, 1st place Western Equitation, 1st place Western Trail, 1st place English Ground Pole Equitation, 2nd place English Equitation.

 

California State Fair Results

Dogs - Caden Flood earned 1st place Novice Showmanship, 1st place Obedience.

Rabbits - Cassidy Sanchez earned 6th in Senior Showmanship, Senior buck Holland lop took best in breed, Senior doe Holland lop took best of opposite sex and variety; Paige Morgan Che, Best of variety; Alan Casey Pie - Best of Breed; Jaylynn Casey Oreo - Best Opposite; Alan Casey 7th place Showmanship; Jaylynn Casey 6th place showmanship.

All of the members worked extremely hard throughout the year. Congratulations to all 4-H members for a great year.
