One might find it hard to get bored during the 2019-2020 school year at Oakdale Junior High. A fact due largely in part to a total of 12 clubs which shared information with the student body on Friday, Aug. 23 during the annual Club Rush event.

Two new clubs were added to the campus offerings with a boys volleyball club, as well as OJHS Drama Club.

“Both clubs had a lot of excitement from student sign ups,” Vice Principal Talmage Allen shared. “We are hoping to get some excitement in boys volleyball and see if other schools in the area have boys teams that would want to play.”

According to Allen, the majority of the 12 clubs offered on campus cater to both grade levels unless otherwise indicated by the advisor and/or student leaders.

“We want students to get involved in something at school,” he stated. “I believe the more students are involved in positive activities the less time for negative activities. The positive organizations (clubs) help students learn teamwork, organization, time management and friendship.”

Club Rush is hosted each year during each respective lunch hour for the student body.
