Steady progress continues on the west end of town as students, staff, administrators and volunteers work on the new Oakdale School Farm. The most recent addition came by way of planting 13 acres with almond trees. The trees used were donated to the district by Burchell Nursery.

In late January, School Farm Committee Chairman Brian Lemons of Yosemite Farm Credit was joined by a handful of OHS FFA students, Ag teacher Isaac Robles, Assistant Superintendent Larry Mendonca and Superintendent of Schools Marc Malone to help with the planting.

“Brian Lemons has done a tremendous amount of work getting sponsors and donors for all kinds of facets to the farm,” Robles stated.

Contract approval for construction of a barn on the farm property was approved by OJUSD board members at the January meeting and is the next item scheduled to be added at the site.
