Stolen Vehicle Leads To Arrest

An Oakdale man remained in the Stanislaus County Jail as of Tuesday afternoon, April 30, jailed in lieu of $40,000 bail on multiple counts stemming from a weekend incident.

According to Oakdale Police, shortly after 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning, April 27, they made a traffic stop and arrested Joshua David Carmelich, 27. He is accused of striking a residence in the 100 block of W. North Street while driving a stolen vehicle and then fleeing the scene.

Carmelich was subsequently taken in custody and booked at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, petty theft and hit and run.

A court date was still pending as of Tuesday afternoon.
