A 34-year-old man was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after officers responded to a home on the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue on Dec. 8 around 3 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of a family fight involving weapons. Once on scene, officers determined a father and son had been involved in a fight. The father walked out of the home suffering from a head injury after being struck with a pistol by his son. As a precaution, Oakdale Police, with the assistance of Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputies, briefly shut down the street and surrounded the home.
A short time later, the adult son surrendered to police and a firearm was recovered.
The 66-year-old victim was taken to a local area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led up to the confrontation and the involved persons’ actions during the altercation.
