Sonora Bach Festival Announces Gala Concert
Chef Dave

The Sonora Bach Festival offers its second concert of the 2019 festival on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 3 p.m., at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 127 W. Jackson St, Sonora. This year’s Gala Concert and Dinner will feature the organist and pianist Jason Jeffrey performing first on the main organ in the church and then on the grand piano in the Parish Hall. In the first half of the concert, Jeffrey will perform organ music of J.S. Bach. The second part of the concert in the Parish Hall will feature piano works by J.S. Bach., W.A. Mozart, and F. Chopin. An Italian-themed dinner buffet by culinary master Chef Dave Ingram will follow the piano concert.

Tickets may be purchased for the organ concert only or for the Gala Concert and Dinner and are available at The Mountain Bookshop in Sonora, online at Sonorabach.org, or by calling (209) 536-6330.

This Gala Concert, the second of four musical events of the 2019 Sonora Bach Festival, offers the unique opportunity to hear the organ of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church as well as the grand piano in the Parish Hall.

This year’s guest artist, Jason Jeffrey, is the Director of Music Ministries at the Cathedral of the Annunciation in Stockton, CA. Having graduated from the University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance, he continues his growth as a musician by accompanying students, putting on concerts and recitals, occasionally playing for musicals and events in the San Joaquin Valley.

The program will be about one hour total and will include commentary by the performer. Board member and retired Columbia College Music Professor John Carter said: “This will be a fascinating program showcasing music for both the organ music and the piano. We are so fortunate to have a multi-talented performer, comfortable on these wonderful instruments.”

Included in the Gala Concert is the buffet dinner by popular local chef and caterer Chef Dave Ingram. This year’s Italian themes menu includes appetizers: Balls of Wild Mushroom Risotto stuffed with Smoked Provolone, Italian Wedding Soup Sips, and Caprese Crostini. The dinner course will offer Bread and Tomato Salad and Little Gems Salad with Blue Oak Farms’ Baby Lettuce followed by Mushroom Pasticciata – Polenta layered in Sautéed Mushrooms in Cream Sauce and Mozzarella – plus Chicken Cacciatore (just like Grandma never made). The meal’s finale will be Caramel Semifreddo with Amoretti Crumbs, Crème Fraiche with Chef Dave’s own Mocha Caramel Sauce. A selection of wines will be offered.

“We are thrilled to have Chef Dave again. He does such a great job,” noted Diane Wright, Bach Festival Director. “The buffet dinner plus the music makes for a spectacular Gala afternoon.”
