MJC Presents Tamara Mena As Positive People Speaker
Tamara Mena

Tamara Mena, motivational speaker and spokesperson, is the next presenter for Modesto Junior College’s Positive People Speaker Series. The free, public presentation is Thursday, March 16, at 6 p.m. in the Mary Stuart Rogers Student Learning Center on West Campus, 2201 Blue Gum Ave., Modesto. Campus parking is available for $2.

Mena is an international motivational speaker, model, host, spokesperson, ambassador, survivor and eternal optimist. She was born and raised in Mexico and immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 13. At age 19, she suffered a horrific car accident that left her paralyzed from the mid-chest down. Despite this tragedy, she never lost sight of her dreams and goals.

Mena retook her classes, attended California State University, Stanislaus where she majored in communications studies and received numerous academic awards. Despite several hospitalizations, she graduated with highest honors, Summa Cum Laude.

The speaker series, offered by the MJC Office of Campus Life and Student Learning, features local community members who have overcome challenges and obstacles to achieve their goals. The community is invited to come hear these stories of inspiration and motivation.

The final event in the Positive People Speakers Series will feature The Honorable Ruben Villalobos, Stanislaus County Superior Court judge and is scheduled for Thursday, April 6 at 6 p.m. in the Mary Stuart Roger Student Learning Center.
