Janna Van Houten and John Swier have announced their plans to wed this coming spring.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Adrian and Valerie Van Houten. She is a graduate of Ripon Christian High School and Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. She is currently employed in Stockton. Her siblings are Chad Van Houten, Lindsey Sieperda and the late Alison Van Houten-Freeseha.

The prospective groom is the son of Larry and Linda Swier. He is also a Ripon Christian alum and attended Modesto Junior College. He is employed by Pacific Southwest Container. He has one brother, Bill Slikker.

The two became engaged Oct. 3 at a friend’s house. The bride-to-be was coming into the house from the backyard and the bridegroom got down on one knee in the living room to propose. They called family and close friends that night to break the news.

The engaged couple currently live in Escalon.

The wedding is planned on April 27, 2013 at Escalon Christian Reformed Church. A reception will be at the Rivermill in French Camp.
