Robert Neil Weichert and Dorothy May Hawkins Weichert celebrated 70 years of marriage on August 5, 2009.
The couple was wed at the Community Baptist Church in Waterford, where they met when they were in high school. They have lived in Waterford for 58 years.
Mr. Weichert was an Oakdale High School counselor, math teacher, track and tumbling coach. Mrs. Weichert was a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide at Waterford Elementary School. She also was a loving wife and mother.
Their five children are Jim Weichert of Sacramento, Susan Weichert of Waterford, Mary Jean (Weichert) Roeber of Hanford, Janet Redenbaugh of Davis and Rob Weichert of Waterford. They also have 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
